My brief-name is Qedi-var, which in accordance with Spire name regulations is roughly translatable to "Qedi-who-is-a-researcher" in Precursor English. To increase specificity when referring to me, Qedi-am-o-var is my long-name, which translates to "Qedi-who-researches-people-of the past". That is to say, I am an anthropologist with an archaeological focus. And yes, to get this out of the way early, I am a flightless shortwing.

Many eminent scholars of the Spire would rather call me Qedi-qai ("Qedi-insane") or even Qedi-var-qav ("Qedi-idiot-can'tfly"). But I believe history will vindicate me and my theories, and then they are the ones who will take the insulting suffixes.

(Presenting precursor technology to an audience, my companion Huarvaa in the background)

My personal history is largely unimportant. Several years ago now, I was given a research grant to travel to the Western continent and survey the site of the first settlement on Siren. There, I found primary sources detailing the origin of mammalian life on Siren and our own shared history as genetically modified aliens originally from a planet called 'Earth'. My thesis, presenting my findings, was stifled by university faculty and my name dragged through the mud. I was forced to publish anonymously. It contained an account of Ishmael, my primary research subject, the first person born on Siren and the mythological ancestor of all phocids. I found his journals, 'photographic' and 'video' footage, transcripts, and more, with which I could piece together an accurate account of his life, thousands of years after his death.

The chapters of my thesis and my own personal  travel journal can be found in the writing page of this web-site. I suggest starting with "Forward by the Author" as an introduction.
